Still life Mr Walker
Still life research: work of other photographers
I have collected these pictures because I really like the way the photographers have composed there shots for example I really like the image of the fruit hanging from the pegs it creates a feeling of loneliness to the picture. by doing this the photographer has created more meaning to a image. I also like how he has blurred the other fruits out of the picture this emphasises the feeling of loneliness. I also like the photoshop techniques that the photographers have used, like the black and white image of the pears because its turned a dull picture into something with a dramatic atmosphere.
The work of other photographers: Edward Edwards
These are the images I have collected of Edward Edwards, Edward Edwards is a commercial photographer who focuses his images on jewellery he uses a range of different photoshop techniques to create true meaning to his photos. One technique he repetitively uses is high key lighting this is when you higher the brightness and contrast of a picture. The reason for this is so that the jewellery is illuminated therefore making it that centre of view. I am going to use Edwards work to create similar images, I will uses high key lighting and also hue & saturation to influence my work. here Is some information taking from Ed's site. "Ed has been taking and exhibiting his photography for over twenty years. His influences include William Klein, Robert Frank and Brassai. He has traveled extensively seeking out what he describes as the ‘landscape of humanity and the humanity of landscapes’.
His recent exhibition ‘Iron Horse’ at The Society Club in Soho, London, depicted the so-called outsiders from the biker world who frequent the famous Ace Café on the A1. Despite their social dissent, Ed’s photographs show the sense of camaraderie and belonging they have amongst each other, together with the strong code that binds their communities. Ed’s pictures have been published in various arts and music magazines such as Plectrum and Vive la Rock. Ed’s current projects include his frank and disarming portraits of the people from Southern India, and his ongoing exploration of the vistas encountered in the United States of America whilst on the open road."
I cannot find any information about where the photographer edward edwards was born or where he lives now.

here is a mind map to show the ideas that I was exploring for my project.
my initial images
The above images are my first raw images that I took, I feel that several of them have worked well I really like the light on some of them however they are not the best set of images I have taken. The ones I thought went well were the images of the shells, I think this because I really like the diverse use of colours. To improve these images I am going to use a range of photoshop techniques to give the images a more personal touch. here are the techniques that I will use:
hue & saturation
black & white
HDR toning
feather & gaussian blur
exposure

my edited pictures
My initial images of shells and jewellery
Here are my seconds attempt of still life photography, as you can see they have worked much better than the first set of raw images. In these images i have used a studio light to adjust the brightness of the pictures naturally. I have then spent some time arranging the objects to create a atmospherically composed picture. I have tried to interpret Edwards Edwards work into my own.
my edited still life pics
All of the above images are my final edited photos. I think that the images have worked really well in my opinion. in these final images i have uses a array of different photoshop techniques ranging from hue & saturation to overlaying images. I have also experimented with colours in my final images. I think that I have interpreted Edwards work really well as I have created a diverse range of jewellery images.
